WINDOW: April 17, 2022

DAFFY DAYS: April is Daffodil Days here in Newport! Wish has yet again entered the annual Storefront Windows Contest. It's both adjudicated and has a People's Choice component. You can vote for our window display here, but April is a very important month around here for two other reasons too! April 7th marks 6 years since I opened the doors at 80 Thames. And it's also Best of Rhode Island voting month.

I wrote up a little something on our instagram on the anniversary last week, and it encapsulates what I'm feeling 6 years after opening:

"6 years of my little gem at 80 Thames. Part of me can hardly believe it’s been that long, part of me feels like I’ve been doing this for a million years. A lot sure has changed in 6 years, [click here to see some old photos of when we got the keys in 2016], all for the better I think. Thank you to each of you that support 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡 by shopping, consigning, offering words of affirmation, recommending us, liking and following our social media, helping me in the shop and so much more. To 𝐦𝐫. 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡, thank you for allowing me the space and time to make wish such a big part of our life. And for giving 25 year old me [some more photos here], all the confidence in the world that I could do this, and that I could do it better than anyone else. I think it’s safe to say you were right. To 𝐦𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡, thank you for always being my number one fan and for every call to vent or problem solve and for every holiday window display. What a wonderful team we make (vote for us in the Daffy Days Storefront Windows Decorating Contest) and here’s to many more 🎄&🌼 window installs, and hopefully no more trips to ikea in a Mini Cooper, because there are better vehicles to move a 12’x10’ rug in. 😂

All in all, cheers to many more years of this beautiful mess! I’m thinking this calls for a party?!" << stay tuned for details on social for this!

I start thinking about the clothing pieces for this window and the daffodil install around the end of February annually and I'm really happy with how this one came out. A few Lilly Pulitzer items, two Sara Campbell dresses and the amazing The Vampire's Wife floral maxi dress in the center of the front window, and all in the perfect sunny daffy yellow. As you may have gathered from the bit from my instagram above, my mom helps with all the special holiday window installs at wish. This year, although I had the clothing all ready to go at the end of March, we weren't sure what we wanted to do for the daffodils until we started, but it came together perfectly!

Adorable yellow Lilly Pulitzer dress and top shown below.

If you've enjoyed Wish this year, would you please take 33 seconds to vote for us in Rhode Island Monthly's Best of Rhode Island? Yes, I timed myself the other day voting, just 33 seconds! We have won the Best Consignment Store in Newport County 4 times since I opened at 80 Thames (and the prior ownership won it a number of times while they were in business as well). I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to vote and of course appreciate your choosing Wish as your favorite Consignment Store in Newport County. Voting ends April 30th, and voting is once per email address.

For a closer look at all the styled outfits, slide right through the photos below. To shop all items in the window on the same page, head to Window Shopping.

To jump directly to the page of a specific item, click on the thumbnail below. To shop all the items in the window in one spot, go to Window Shopping. To see or shop another window display, scroll through or search all blog posts.

I spend so much time styling the window in the shop and hear from all of you how much you love it. I know many of you aren't in Newport in general so you're used to enjoying our Window content on Instagram and Facebook but I always feel like they should have a more permanent place online. Use code: APR15 for 15% off your online purchase now thru April 31st. Hope you enjoyed it too and maybe you even find something you love!
